PM Imran expresses grief over death of prominent businessman Ali Suleman Habib

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed grief over the death of a prominent businessman, Ali Suleman Habib, who also served in the Ministry of Commerce in an honorary capacity.

"Saddened to learn of the passing of my old friend Ali Habib today. He was a respected & enterprising businessman who was a member of the SKMT Board and was helping our govt in an honorary capacity in the Ministry of Commerce," the premier wrote on his official Twitter handle on Friday.

Habib, 63, was the chairman of the Indus Motor Company and also headed operations for the House of Habib.

He had attended the PMD Programme at Harvard University and had graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota.

The prominent businessman was also a member of the Board of Governors of Habib University.

In another tweet earlier, PM Imran said he was saddened to hear about the countless Pakistanis living abroad who have fallen victim to the novel coronavirus.

He said many of the victims served on the frontlines against the deadly virus.

“I am saddened by the news of the death of countless Pakistanis living & working abroad who have fallen victim to the Covid-19. Many died while serving in the frontline of the global war,” he tweeted.

The premier also wished a speedy recovery to those battling the virus, and said Pakistan will never forget all those citizens living in different countries and playing a critical role in Pakistan’s development through remittances and charity work.
