Wall collapse claims lives of six children in Shikarpur

The incident occurred while an influential person in the area was distributing cash among the children

HYDERABAD: Six young children were killed and four others injured when the tall outer wall of a country house collapsed on them in Shikarpur district on Friday.

The incident occurred while Zulfiqar Bhayo, an influential person in the area, was distributing cash among the children in Abdul Latif Bhayo village. He reportedly has a practice of handing out alms to the children of impoverished villagers every Friday.

After the wall fell, villagers rushed to pull out the deceased and the injured from under the debris. Three of the deceased, namely four-year-old Yasir Bhayo, his three-year-old sister Komal Bhayo, and two-year-old Muhammad Sabir Bhayo, died before they could be shifted to the local hospital.

Meanwhile, four-year-old Tariq Bhayo, his brother Tahir, 2, and two-year-old Muhammad Siddiq Bhayo died while they were being taken to Civil Hospital, Sukkur.

The injured children have been admitted to Civil Hospital, Shikarpur, for treatment.
