ISLAMABAD:
To resolve the traffic congestion in the city, the apex civic authority of the federal capital has invited bids from companies for the construction of a flyover and two underpasses at Rawal Chowk and on Park Road.

Separately in a meeting at the authority, development work in the two projects of Park Enclave, and urban sectors including E-12, I-12 and I-15 were discussed.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials on Thursday said that following directions from the authority's chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed, bids have been invited from technically sound and well-reputed firms registered with Pakistan Engineering Council under the single-stage, two envelope procedure.

The project to build a flyover and two underpasses are expected to cost around Rs1.25 billion. The project concept-I (PC-I), as well as the design of the project, have been finalised over the past ten months.

Development review meeting

A meeting was held at CDA Headquarters on Thursday to review development works in Park Enclave-I, Park Enclave-II, sectors I-15, I-12 and E-12.

Officials said that around 400 kanals land has been acquired in Park Enclave II, while possession of the remaining 50 kanals of land - required to initiate development work - is expected to be obtained on Friday (today). Several streets in the enclave have also been marked.

Ahmed directed that the PC-I of the project should be taken up in the CDA-Development Working Party meeting, scheduled for next week.

On the development of Sector E-12, officials said that tenders will be issued shortly.

On the development of Sector I-15, it was informed that NIT for the first phase has been issued to pre-qualified firms and they will be opened on April 28.
