Asks plaintiffs to have faith in govt, parliament, says cannot interfere in executive matters

ISLAMABAD: The health ministry was asked on Monday to explain why staff of the apex regulator of medical institutions in the country, who have been restored by the court, were not provided with the facilities they are entitled to.

This was directed as a single-member bench of the Islamabad High Court, comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, heard a contempt petition filed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Registrar Brig (retired) Hafeezuddin.

The court asked Brig Hafeezuddin if the government was still reluctant to cooperate with PMDC staff. The PMDC official said that so far, the government has yet to return their official vehicles. Moreover, he said the ministry has not given them possession of houses that PMDC officials are entitled to.
