The suspended police officials include Koral police station SHO Syed Ishtiaq Shah, Nilore police station SHO SI Muhammad Hanif, OSI Operations Division SI Muhammad Asif, OSI Assistant Head Constable Muhammad Yameen and Constable Muhammad Asad serving at the Sabzi Mandi police station.
Operations - Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Waqaruddin Syed, who ordered the suspension of the officers, said that following directions from Islamabad Police IGP Aamir Zulfiqar, they had introduced a policy of zero-tolerance against corruption in the federal police department.
In view of the accountability system to monitor the performance of police officials, they were taking disciplinary action against officers allegedly involved in dereliction of duties, negligence, poor investigation, unexplained absences and their alleged involvement in corruption.
DIG Syed tasked Counter-Terrorism Department Senior Superintendent of Police with conducting the inquiry and to submit a report within a week.
