Lhcba: Bar backs SC in standoff with govt

lawyers would go to any extent to ensure that all state institutions strictly follow the commands of the judiciary

LAHORE:

“The implementation of the Supreme Court’s decisions is in national interest and lawyers would go to any extent to ensure that all state institutions strictly follow the commands of the judiciary,” Asghar Ali Gill, the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) president, said on Thursday. Gill was speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Shuhada Hall of the LHCBA.

Gill said that, there should be no clash among state institutions. It should immediately implement the orders of the Supreme Court in the NICL scam, the Hajj scam and other cases.

The president said that if the government failed to implement the SC’s judgments the bar executive would take up the matter in the general house. Replying to a reporter’s question, he said that the general house would decide whether to launch a protest campaign or to take out processions. He said that the bar did not want anarchy in the country but would take stern action if SC orders were not implemented.
