Deepika Padukone wanted a 'casual relationship' with Ranveer Singh

The starlet revealed her earlier reservations in an old interview

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's love story is one for the books. The couple are easily Bollywood's favourite lovebirds, showering PDA's where ever they go.

However, in a 2018 Filmfare interview unearthed by Hindustan Times, Deepika reveals that she in fact did not want to commit to Ranveer when they first met, although sparks flew between the two!

Thanks to many a failed relationships in the past, Deepika was hesitant to commit to anyone, not just Ranveer. "It was not about him. It was about whether I was ready to commit to a relationship. Because I’d been in several relationships before and many times my trust was broken," she said.

"When I met Ranveer, I was exhausted. I had been constantly in and out of relationships. I just wanted to be alone for some time," she added, saying that she had been in serious relationships since the age of 13.

When the starlet met Ranveer on the sets of their blockbuster Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Deepika was freshly out of a relationship and struggling post-breakup. "When this relationship, which I was in, ended in 2012, I was like I’m done. I wanted to try out this concept of casual dating. I just did not want to be answerable to anyone," she said.

"When Ranveer and I met in 2012, I told him, ‘I realise there’s a connection between us. I really like you but I want to keep it open. I don’t want to commit. If I get attracted to different people I’m going to do my thing,’” explained Deepika.

As it turned out, she ended up not having eyes for anyone but Ranveer and within six months, she was sure of him. "I couldn’t get myself to do any of that. Now when I look back, six months into it I was pretty much emotionally invested in us. After that it was when do we get married?"

Well, they really did hit it off and have now been married for more than a year! Talk about being a power couple.
