ASI suspended, two cases lodged after video of incident goes viral

FAISALABAD: A woman attacked a pizza shop manager and scuffled with police after he dismissed her son and daughter from their job.

The woman also reportedly smashed the glass doors of the shop with a hammer and attacked police personnel with a knife. A large number of people gathered at the spot and recorded video of the incident which went viral on social media.

Ghulam Muhammadabad Police lodged a case against the woman and started looking for her. The police also suspended an ASI for torturing the woman and filed a case against Owais, the manager of the pizza shop located in Saddar Bazaar.

The woman’s son Abdullah and daughter Urooj worked as salespersons at the pizza shop. They both were fired from their job after payment of dues because of a fight with other employees. After this, their mother came to the shop and smashed its glass door with a hammer as it was closed due to lockdown. After breaking the doors, she entered the shop and allegedly took out Rs75,000 from the counter. Her footage was captured by CCTV camera.

The woman grabbed the manager by the neck and slapped him. When police reached the shop, she went outside with a knife and attacked policemen who asked her to go home. She was also beaten by the police. Ghulam Mohammadabad police lodged a case against the woman under sections 379, 427 and 504 and started investigation.

SSP Operation Syed Ali Raza took notice of the matter after the video went viral on social media, suspended ASI Akram and ordered the Lyallpur Town SP to investigate the incident.
