UN reiterates call for global ceasefire including at LoC, IOK
UN chief urged warring parties across the world to lay down their arms in support of bigger battle against COVID-19

The United Nations (UN) on Wednesday has reaffirmed its call for a global ceasefire including at the Line of Control (LOC) and in Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IOK)
"UN Secretary-General's recent appeal for a ceasefire in world's conflict zones also applies to the Line of Control in the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir," said Spokesperson to UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric.
During Dujarric's regular press briefing in New York, he said there is no region in the world, in which the Secretary-General's call for global ceasefire does not apply.
India has been repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement, causing casualties and damage on the Pakistani side of the disputed border.

Earlier, the UN chief had urged warring parties across the world to lay down their weapons in support of the bigger battle against COVID-19.
Earlier today, the Pakistan Army shot down an Indian quadcopter that violated the country’s airspace in the Sankh sector along the Line of Control (LoC), a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
The Indian quadcopter intruded 600 metres inside Pakistan’s territory for surveillance. The Pakistan Army responded to India’s violation and shot down the drone.
“Such unwarranted acts by the Indian Army are a clear violation of established norms and existing air agreements between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. It also reflects the Indian Army’s consistent disregard to the ceasefire understanding of 2003,” the military’s media wing said.
