RAWALPINDI: The occasion of Shab-e-Baraat would be observed across the country with religious zeal on Wednesday.

It was customary to visit graves of near and dear ones and offer prayers in Mosques, However, this year most of the people would offer prayers at homes.

Clerics and Ulema have asked the devotees to stay indoors and not head to the mosques amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation. Usually, such religious occasions are observed with mass gatherings at mosques. Thousands of Muslims often stay at mosques overnight to offer special prayers.

Shab-e-Baraat also sees people indulging in fireworks, a custom abhorred by the religious scholars and banned by the government.

The district administration has placed a strict ban on firecrackers and has warned the violators that they would be imprisoned.
