PESHAWAR:
A senior police official in Mardan, who had earlier contracted the novel coronavirus, has fully recovered and has returned to active duty.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Waqar Azeem had contracted the deadly pathogen while on duty. He said that getting tested on time helped him a lot.

“I quarantined myself at home for 14 days after my tests came positive,” SSP Azeem said. “I exercised regularly, took fresh juices and kept myself busy which helped me recover. The most important thing is not to lose faith.”

Pak-Afghan border crossings opened temporarily

After returning to active duty, the officer visited the union council of Manga where he met other officers and constables to boost their morale.

The SSP also issued instructions to the policemen to remain steadfast and to carry out their duty to ensure the safety of people’s lives.

Earlier, the first death from the contagion was also reported from Mardan. The deceased had returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah.  About 109 people from that area were tested for the coronavirus. All the results came out as negative.
