KARACHI:
Sindh Building Control Authority director-general (DG) Dr Naseemul Ghani Sahito visited Gulbahar Colony on Friday, where a five-storey building had tilted earlier this week, raising fears of collapse. He inspected the building, declared unsafe by the SBCA, and directed the demolition squad to raze it.
The SBCA has also issued a notice to the building’s residents, asking them to vacate it immediately. Following the reports of the building tilting, SBCA officials had evacuated the structure with the help of the police and district administration.
Later, a squad was sent to the site to demolish the building to protect the neighbouring structures. SBCA officials said that they had to hire labourers for the demolition, as excavators could not reach the site.
