‘Public places must be disinfected at the earliest’

CS said 372 places have been sprayed and 236km of roads washed in city

Punjab Chief Secretary Major (retd) Azam Suleman Khan has said cities be divided into different zones and districts under the ongoing disinfection campaign and process of cleaning and disinfecting roads, mosques and public places must be completed at the earliest.

These directions were issued by Chief Secretary while presiding over a meeting to review the situation of coronavirus, establishment of field hospitals, stock position of wheat, flour, rice, disinfection drive and administrative matters in the province.

Provincial Law Minister Basharat Raja, IG Police Shoaib Dastgir, Commissioner Lahore Division and officers concerned were present on the occasion.

It was decided in the meeting that strict implementation of SOPs regarding social distancing would be ensured at banks, offices, truck points of four grocery stores.

The commissioner highlighted that 372 places have been sprayed and 236km roads have been washed in the city.

It was also decided that disinfection cabins would be set up at all public places and fruits and vegetable markets across the province.

The CCPO Lahore said that during the lockdown in the city, 229 checkpoints have been set up, 56,000 persons, 45,183 cars, motorcycles, rickshaws and other vehicles were checked and warnings were issued to 53,000 persons. He remarked that about 529 cases have also been registered over violation of section 144.

Lauding the chief secretary and his team on behalf of Chief Minister Punjab, the law minister said that the performance of all officers is outstanding during this emergency.

The chief secretary ordered officers to keep a strict check on flour stocks in mills and on prices of commodities in big grocery stores.

He said that donations from philanthropists must be documented to help the poor transparently. He also issued instructions to field officers to conduct visits to jails along with police officers as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The IG Punjab said that to get the required results, checkpoints all over the province would be made more effective.
