Nawaz, 26, the son of a retired police official, had married 28-year-old Tayyaba of Chak 67-JB seven years ago. The families of both were unhappy over the marriage and the couple had rented a house in Chak 225 Malikhanwala.

They had two children but domestic disputes strained their relations over time.
