Man arrested for killing 80-year-old grandmother in Karachi

KARACHI:
The police arrested a man for killing his grandmother during a raid conducted in Mominabad, Orangi Town, on Friday. His accomplice was also apprehended.

According to the police, Haris had killed his grandmother, 80-year-old Jamila Begum, with the help of his friend Tanvir on March 24. They allegedly murdered the woman when she tried to stop them from stealing property documents.

Meanwhile, robbers looted a house in Khokhrapar on Friday.
According to the police, eight armed men barged into a house in Gulshan-e-Haider-e-Qarar, holding the residents hostage at gunpoint. They stole cash, mobile phones, jewellery and other valuables from the house and fled before the police arrived.

Separately, a teenaged girl was killed in a traffic accident near Darul Uloom Korangi, within the limits of Awami Colony police station.
According to the police, the girl, who was critically injured, was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment, but succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

She was identified as 17-year-old Sonia, daughter of Sarfaraz, a resident of the area. The family took the body from the hospital without medico-legal formalities.
A case has been registered while further investigation is underway.
