Japan gives Pakistan $0.2m for social projects

ISLAMABAD: The Japanese government on Thursday provided around $236,230 in financial assistance for four social development projects, including for education and rural electrification in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Punjab provinces.

In a statement issued by the Japanese embassy on Thursday, it was detailed that the grants will be provided to four national non-governmental organisations (NGOs) including Learning Awareness and Motivation Programme (LAMP) in the Khyber district of K-P, Friends Welfare Association (FWA) in Torghar district of K-P, the Hana Development Council (HDC) in Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab and the Actions for Human Advancement (AHAT) in Kasur district of Punjab.

A document in this regards was signed by Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda on Thursday. He said that human security is an idea focusing on individual members of the community to promote and strengthen the community, the independence of each person with protection and capability development to achieve the rich potential of each member of the community.

He hoped that these projects will help girls and boys to have easy access to their basic right of education and help local communities get the maximum benefit from the rural electrification project.
