PM Imran to review economic situation amid novel coronavirus outbreak

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday (today) will chair a meeting of the federal cabinet via video link in order to discuss eight-point agenda with the federal ministers.

The prime minister would preside over the meeting via video link while the ministers would also attend the discussion from various cities of the country in groups through video conference call.

According to sources, the meeting would be convened to review the situation created by the deadly spreading coronavirus across the country and the measures taken to curb the virus.


The meeting would also review the impact of coronavirus over the economy and would consider tax exemptions on foreign business loans and profits.

As per the agenda of the meeting, federal minister for Energy Omar Ayub would brief the prime minister on the distribution, billing and other matters related to the power division amidst the crisis of the virus. It would be expected that the federal cabinet would approve a facilitation package for people associated with the construction sector.

Besides, the federal cabinet would also review measures taken against hoarders benefitting from the crisis of coronavirus across the country.

The federal cabinet would endorse the decisions of its subcommittee on various legal issues. National Electric Vehicle Policy would also likely be presented in the meeting.
