'We will not baton-charge you. We will not shoot you. We just appeal to you to take care of yourself'
KARACHI:
Video of a police official, pleading the citizens to stay at home in Sukkur, went viral on social media on Tuesday.
In the video, the police official, Qalandar Bux Soomro, can be seen wearing gloves and roaming the narrow streets of Sukkur in a police mobile, requesting the citizens to not to step out of their houses.
"Tawan je peran tho pawan, meharbani kare ghar weho," [I touch your feet, please stay at home]," he says repeatedly in the video, in a humble and polite manner, informing the residents that coronavirus can be lethal. "It can kill you," he says, adding, "I request you to stay at home for the safety of your children."
He further asks the citizens to obey government orders, not just for the safety of their children, but for their own wellbeing and good health.
"We will not baton-charge you. We will not shoot you. We just appeal to you to take care of yourself," he can be seen saying in video.
After the video went viral, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar appreciated Soomro's initiative and his polite manner, announcing a cash reward for him, according to the spokesperson of Sindh IGP.
