The Lahore High Court, on Tuesday sought an explanation from the Gujrat district officer (Education) regarding the transfer of a local school headmistress. The explanation was sought on a petition was filed by a teacher Shaheen, requesting to be transferred closer to her home. She said that in July, she was transferred to a school close to her residence but the order was cancelled the next day by the DO at the behest of an MPA who wanted an acquaintance of his appointed there. Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that the MPA had no lawful role in transfers and directed the DO to file his report by July 29.
