247 pilgrims from Taftan border reach DG Khan

As many as 247 pilgrims, commuting in 30 buses returning from Iran to Taftan border, have entered the province and arrived at Bawata check post in Dera Ghazi Khan. Khan on Thursday morning, where the pilgrims stayed for a while.
Multan Health Department Chief Executive Officer Dr Syed Munawar Abbas said as many as 1,270 passengers were screened for coronavirus but none of the passengers showed any symptoms of the infectious disease.

After a short stay, a convoy of 30 buses of pilgrims, arriving under the supervision of rangers, border military police, Punjab Police and district administration reached Multan via Bawata, Rakhi Raj, Sakhi Sarwar, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

All pilgrims were being accommodated at the quarantine centres, set up at the Labour Complex.
The pilgrims were being provided with accommodation and food by the administration and government of Punjab.
In addition to this, a screening and testing process of pilgrims who arrived in Multan had also been started.
The Chief Executive Officer and other officials had been monitoring pilgrims’ checkups and other related matters.
The focal person of Health department Dr Mohammad Syed said that samples of 549 out of the 829 pilgrims, who stayed in quarantine centres, had been sent to the laboratory.
“Out of these 549 samples, 249 test reports had been received so far and up to 60 cases were reported positive.”
