Process begins for Pakistani manpower export to Japan
Tokyo is looking to hire skilled workforce in 14 sectors
ISLAMABAD:
The Japanese government has initiated the process of importing skilled manpower from Pakistan in 14 different sectors aimed at providing employment opportunities for Pakistanis labour force, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan Yusuke Shindo told APP.
Sharing strategy and action plan with this news agency on Thursday, Shindo said that applications have been invited from skilled Pakistanis, who can submit their particulars by April 27 for recruitment in relevant sectors.
The candidates would have to go through Japanese language test in July 2020 before their final selection for recruitment, he said, adding that the test would be conducted at National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad.
The diplomat said that three categories were part of plan -- technical intern, specified-skilled workers and highly-skilled professional. He added Japanese market would import 345,000 skilled manpower from 10 countries of the world.
The government of Pakistan has nominated the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the National University of Technology (NUTEC) for providing necessary service for the recruitment of candidates.
The process of recruitment will continue every year for next five years. For the programme Japan and Pakistan signed a memorandum of cooperation in February 2019 in Tokyo. The memorandum opens new avenues for Pakistanis to work in 14 Japanese sectors.
Japan faces shortage of labour force. “We need to import skilled labourers from 10 countries, including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and ASEAN [Association of South East Asian Nations],” Shindo said.
Replying to a question, the diplomat said that Pakistan and Japan were looking for increasing bilateral cooperation in agricultural-based industry and value-addition as Japan had already announced grant in aid to enhance productivity in relevant agricultural fields.
