QUETTA:
An organization of doctors – Young Doctors Association (YDA) – has expressed concern over lack of facility including safety gears for the medics working at hospital and quarantine centres formed for the patients and contacts of novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

“The doctors performing duties at hospitals and quarantine centers are worried and apprehensive in treating the suspected patients because of non-availability of basic facilities including coronavirus kits.

“More than 1,500 doctors and paramedics have been performing duties at such facilities without masks,” said the YDA President Dr Yasir Khan Achakzai at a press conference on Monday.

He said considering gravity of the situation, doctors do not want to protest but they are scared too as, it is a matter of their own safety and health.

“Durable steps by the government are much needed. The government should make sure availability of basic needs including N-95 masks, caps, gloves and hand sanitizers at health centers,” he added.
