QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Secondary Education Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind has taken notice of the closure of science laboratories in various schools, according to a statement issued by the department on Friday.

The statement said practical science is an integral part of the syllabus; therefore, administration should allocate and utilise funds accordingly in order to assure functioning of the laboratories in schools.

“Heads of departments concerned are responsible for non-functional laboratories in schools,” said the minister, announcing that the government would not grant permission to shut down labs. He vowed to uplift education sector through provision of facilities in schools located in rural areas across Balochistan.

“The provincial government focuses on provision of quality education for children and youth of Balochistan and to achieve it comprehensive planning and strategy is under way in order to accelerate performance of the department.” He also slammed the previous governments for not doing enough for education in the province.

Rind assured the stakeholders that the provincial government is taking measures in order to restore confidence of people in the public educational institutions. The government, he said, would soon take progressive measures to reverse the “trend of decline in public sector schools”.
