Cantt to get a university soon, promises FGEI director

Students living in Rawalpindi Cantonment Board will soon be able to pursue higher education at the Cantonment Garrison University.

This was announced by Federal Government Educational Institutes Cantonments and Wards (FGEI C&W) Director Brigadier Dr Hameed while addressing the annual prize distribution of the Federal Government Degree College for Women — Abid Majeed Road Campus in Rawalpindi Cantt.

He congratulated the students, their parents and teachers. Appreciating the efforts of students, he said that curricular and co-curricular activities were essential for the physical and mental growth of students.

The FGEI director announced special prizes and incentives for students who secured the top 10 positions in the Federal Board. Umra packages were announced for the respective heads of educational institutions.


He noted that establishment of the FGEI Cantt Garrison University will be a step towards providing students with an opportunity to secure quality higher education.

The ceremony was held to recognise the achievements of talented students and to encourage the spirit of healthy competition in curricular and co-curricular activities. It was attended by parents, teachers and students.

Students who grabbed the top three positions in both Humanities and Science groups across Pakistan included Arooj Amjid, Mehwish Hayat and Zubaida Shoukat respectively.

The college’s teams also won the chemistry model competition at the regional level. Iqra and Hania Imtiaz took the first position in the Naat and Qirat competitions at the regional level, while the took the second position at the national level.
