Mehwish Hayat’s PSL wish comes true with new announcement

Post corona-outbreak, the celebrity showed concerns towards the way the tournament continued

As schools shut down and malls closed, panic prevailed in Karachi with increasing cornonavirus cases. But what didn't change was the PSL tournament with the crowd continuously making its way to the stadium where the matches continued to roll out.

However, several showed concern towards the impact of this ongoing pandemic in a gathering such as the PSL. Popular actor and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient Mehwish Hayat was one of them.

The star took to Twitter yesterday and wrote:

"In light of the Corona virus pandemic, I think that there is a need to rethink the merit in continuing the PSL matches. Let's not cancel them, but play them behind closed doors for TV or if they insist on having spectators in the stadium, all of them need to be screened b4 entry."

It seems her prayer or demands were heard just an hour after her tweet, as the PSL organisers took to their Twitter to make the announcement of the matches to continue without a crowd.

The page wrote, "Following government advice, the upcoming #HBLPSLV matches in Karachi will be played in front of an empty National Stadium. The precautionary decision has been made to better protect the health of spectators, players, officials & media."

Hayat then took to social media to share the wise decision of the authorities.

"Relieved to see this very wise move by the authorities. I never wanted the matches to be cancelled like some were calling for, just appropriate steps to be taken to mitigate the risk in these tough times. Let's continue to enjoy the cricket at home with family and friends!"
