QUETTA:
Balochistan Minister for Education Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind on Thursday said provincial government and private schools and madrassas will remain closed till March 31 in light of the spread of novel coronavirus, vowing to take “strict action against institutions violating the decision.”

“Balochistan governor has been approached for the decision concerning the universities," Rind said while addressing a press conference.

"It is important for the people to avoid unnecessary movement in public places," he stressed.

Secretary Higher Education Hashim Ghilazai, Director Colleges Rubaba Durrani and others were present on the occasion.

Rind said after the first coronavirus case was reported in the province, a meeting was held to assess the current status of the virus, adding that a three-member committee has been constituted to implement the decision.

"A meeting will be held on March 27 to review the situation in which the decision to open or close the educational institutions will be made," he said. Rind added that matters pertaining to universities in the province come under the domain of the federal government and the governor has been approached in this regard.

"We hope that they [federal government] will keep the universities closed and cooperate with us. No restrictions have been imposed on the conduct of civil affairs," Rind said.

The provincial minister also shared some preventive measures against the virus.
