KARACHI:
The body of an abducted man was found in the underground water tank of a house in Karachi’s Manghopir area on Thursday.
Lal Bakhsh, 50, had reportedly been kidnapped from within the limits of the Tipu Sultan police station on February 24. A case was registered with the Tipu Sultan police about his abduction several days later, on March 2, nominating Muhammad Sharif, his wife Rehana, father Muhammad Mairaj and cousins Nadeem and Shahid.
According to a police investigation officer, Sharif had allegedly abducted Bakhsh with the help of his cousins and killed him for having illicit relations with his wife.
The delay in the FIR’s registration enabled the accused to flee. Meanwhile, investigation inspector Yamin Gujjar obtained the call and GPS records of Bakhsh’s phone, revealing that he was last in Raheem Goth, Manghopir.

A police team raided a vacant, locked house in the area, finding the deceased’s motorcycle parked inside. After an extensive search of the house, they found the body in a concealed grave dug inside the empty water tank. The body was then shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
According to Gujjar, the house where the body was found was owned by Sharif. He added that the deceased reportedly had relations with Rehana, and when Sharif found out about this, he abducted and killed Bakhsh with the help of Nadeem and Shahid.
The deceased, who used to be a construction worker, was working as a driver before his murder. The police stated that he had five sons and two daughters.
Raids are being carried out to arrest the suspects in the case.
