Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani announced on Wednesday that educational institutions across Sindh would reopen on Monday, March 16. Schools, colleges, universities and coaching centres in the province have been closed since February 27, after the country’s first coronavirus patient was diagnosed in Karachi.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Ghani added that the decision to reopen schools would be reviewed in case of an outbreak of the infectious disease.

He stated that the majority of educationists wanted schools to reopen, while doctors and medical experts had also given reassurances that they could be opened.

Accompanying Ghani, Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that matches for the ongoing Pakistan Super League would continue as scheduled in the provincial capital.

However, he advised that those who had travelled abroad in the past month and those who were unwell should not come to the stadium to watch the matches, adding that the Sindh health department had given this suggestion.
