Daniel Radcliffe denies being infected with coronavirus
Rumours of the actor contracting the disease spread after a tweet by a dubious account yesterday
Earlier this week, a Twitter account had claimed that Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe had contracted coronavirus. The account in question had the user name @BBCNewsTonight had posted the tweet,"BREAKING: Daniel Radcliffe tests positive for coronavirus. The actor is said to be the first famous person to be publicly confirmed."
Radcliffe's representative has subsequently denied the claim when approached by BuzzFeed News. The tweet has since been deleted while the handle in question has been suspended by Twitter.
Nevertheless already circulated heavily with over 762 times and a 1000 shares before being taken down. The tweet had managed to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman and Politico editorial director Blake Hounshell according to BuzzFeed News. The two have since gone on to apologise for further spreading the rumours.
