New Job: Rehman takes over as GCU vice chancellor

Dr Rehman had served as the chairman of the Physics Department at the University of Engineering and Technology.

Professor Dr Muhammad Khaliqur Rehman on Monday took charge as the 28th vice chancellor of the Government College University, Lahore.


Speaking to senior faculty, he said universities through research in social sciences as well as natural sciences and information technology could help eradicate extremism and sectarian hatred from the country.


Before his new assignment, Dr Rehman had served as the chairman of the Physics Department at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

Dr Rehman was awarded the presidential Izaz-i-Kamal in 2009 for his services for education. He has also received HEC Best Teacher Award and Fellowship Gold Medal of The Pakistan Institute of Physics. He has a PhD in Physics Besides several books, he has written over 100 research articles. A meeting with heads of administrative and academic departments is scheduled today (Tuesday).
