Parent trap: 11-year-old daughter killed for siding with mother
Ferozanwala resident Rehmat Abid Shah strangled and hung his eleven-year-old daughter from a ceiling fan.
GUJRANWALA:
A man killed his daughter for siding with her mother during a quarrel between the couple.
According to police officials, Ferozanwala resident Rehmat Abid Shah strangled and hung his eleven-year-old daughter from a ceiling fan for siding with her mother Ishrat Bibi during a fight between the couple over household expenses. Ishrat Bibi told police officials that her husband strangled their daughter Nazia in a rage and then hung her from a ceiling fan.
“We had been arguing over household expenses and she sided with me when he tried to hit me. Then he grabbed her by the throat and strangled her,” she told Ferozanwala Police SHO Aslam Baig.
Baig said that the girl’s mother told police that Rehmat tried to make the murder appear like a suicide. “She told us that is why he hung the child from the fan but we have an autopsy report that proves she was strangled first,” he added. SHO Baig has registered a case and has arrested two men for allegedly helping Rehmat escape the district. Police are searching for the accused.
