Pakistan’s commitment to religious diversity hailed by Kazakhstan’s ambassador

He urges young scholars at UoP to work and research on the promotion of peace

PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s progress during the past 25 years to protect the religious sites of different faiths was hailed by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Alan Rakhmetullin who noted that his country will be hosting an international conference on great Muslim scholar Al-Farabi’.

Rakhmetullin was addressing a conference at the University of Peshawar (UoP) on Tuesday on the theme of “Al-Farabi: The Second Teacher.” The conference had been organised by the Area Study Centre of UoP with support from the Centre for Global Strategic Studies.

“Pakistan has kept Christian churches, Buddhist temples and [worship places] of different faiths in fine conditions,” the Kazakh envoy remarked.

He urged young scholars at UoP to work and research on the promotion of peace.

Talking about the significance of ninth-century scholar Abdul Hassan Al-Farabi, Rakhmetullin said that he was a great Muslim thinker, educationist is an iconic figure for the entire world.
