ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) Chairman Dr Muhammad Afzal said on Monday that adoption of new technologies has enhanced the country’s milk and livestock production three times. “Genetic improvement of dairy animals through artificial insemination has increased milk production and it is contributing an additional Rs5 billion to the national economy,” he said, speaking at the PARC headquarters. “By utilising embryo transplant technology, the livestock production capacity has also been enhanced from one to three offspring per year,” Afzal said. He said that advanced vaccine production technology for poultry has been transferred to the private sector with a success rate of 95 per cent.
