Pak-Thailand trade jumps to $1.5 billion
Thai official says firms are exploring new opportunities for investment

Pakistan and Thailand can further strengthen mutual trade and economic ties, said Consul General of Thailand Thatree Chauvachata on Saturday.
While addressing a meeting at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the consul general stated that in 2019, the bilateral trade between two countries jumped to over $1.46 billion, adding that Thailand exported goods and services worth $1.174 billion to Pakistan. These included automobiles, crude oil, chemicals, rubber products, machinery and polymer, etc.
Furthermore, the Thai envoy added that Pakistani export to Thailand recorded an increase of 41.45% in 2019, which included fresh aquatic animals, garments and textile, etc. Chauvachata informed that four major Thai companies had already invested in Pakistan, while another four were exploring new opportunities for investment in Pakistan. Also speaking at the occasion, LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said, “In recent years, trade between the two countries has shown tremendous improvement.”
