The former city mayor maintained that his party would legislate to give women 40 per cent of representation in the political arena. He further said that women would be provided with micro-financing loans to set up small businesses, adding that free transport would also be provided to them.
Calling women an 'institution within', he said that it was this segment of the population that bears most of the consequences of what happens in society. "They are most affected by the inflation as they have to manage the household," he said. "Now history will remember that women lit the torch [for prosperity] in the dark age of Karachi".
Speaking at the rally, he said that once a prime minister is elected from Punjab, he does not care about other provinces.
Meanwhile, Kamal termed Sindhis the 'Ansar' of this era, welcoming the migrants from India to their home after Partition. "No one can take this title away from Sindhis till the day of resurrection," he asserted.
Pointing to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, he said that the party could not provide the citizens with water, electricity, education, health or any other facility, and nor could it split Sindh into two. "They do not even have the capability of dividing a single street," he added.
Turning to Sindh's ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he said that it benefited from its slogan of 'roti, kapra aur makan' [food, clothing and shelter], but the upper-class Sindhis, gathered under its flag, had forgotten the meaning of the slogan.
