Local govt claims halting illegal constructions

QUETTA: Quetta Metropolitan Corporation Chief Architect Aziz Kakar on Friday claimed that illegal construction of buildings violating Local Government Building Code Act and being constructed without legal documents has been halted across Quetta.

He expressed this during a raid on under construction buildings in different areas of provincial capital, including Teen Town, Satellite Town, Chalubawari and other areas, according to a press release.

During the raid, Kakar was accompanied by Quetta Municipal Magistrate Abdul Majid Mohammad Hassani, Building Inspector Abdul Quddus Bareach, Official of Building Branch Nemat Kurd and others.

The chief architect stopped ongoing illegal construction of several buildings over violation of Local Government Building Code Act and issued legal notices to their owners. They strictly directed them to fulfill the legal requirements as soon as possible otherwise stern action would be taken in this regard.

Urging people to follow rules of the act, the chief architect said, “No one will be allowed to violate the Building Code Act.”

He added that complying the rules of construction mentioned in Local Government Building Code Act was duty of every citizen.

“Government will maintain check and balance on daily basis for ensuring implementation of the act in the provincial capital,” said the chief architect.
