ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has signed a contract of €13 million for public financial management with the European Union (EU).

Under the programme, the EU will render assistance to Pakistan for the formulation of micro-fiscal policies and improvement in budget preparation and forecasting.

Federal Secretary for Economic Affairs Syed Pervez Abbas and EU Ambassador Androulla Kaminara signed the agreement in a ceremony held in Islamabad in presence of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar.

According to Azhar, assistance from the public financial support programme would support the Naya Pakistan project aimed at the development of the economy.

In addition to Islamabad, the scope of the programme extends to Sindh and Balochistan as well, he said, adding that the government was trying to ensure equitable socio-economic development of Pakistan while economic stability remained its top priority.
