KARACHI:
Inaugurating Sindh's only wildlife museum, opened after a hiatus of 29 years on Wednesday, Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reflected that such facilities would play a vital role in educating the coming generations about the rich history of the province, besides opening new avenues for research.

Sindh, which is home to a number of bird species and rich in wildlife diversity, has unfortunately lacked such a wildlife museum for 29 years, with its only one in dire need of restoration. However, according to Sindh Wildlife Department officials, the museum was being renovated after Bilawal, who has shown keen interest in wildlife for the past year, urged its restoration.

Speaking on the occasion, Bilawal asked the relevant officials to now begin working towards uplifting the museum to the level of Natural History Museum in the United Kingdom. "With continued efforts, we will have a full natural history museum," he said.

Taking a tour of the museum at the Old Freemasons Lodge on Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, Bilawal said that he was happy to see province's rich wildlife diversity.

The museum has four rooms and two large corridors, in addition to a library, housing rare books on wildlife. Visiting the library, Bilawal asked the officials to take steps to preserve the books.
