KARACHI:
Former Karachi mayor and senior Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Naimatullah Khan was laid to rest on Wednesday.

Khan passed away on Tuesday after struggling with multiple illnesses. He was 89.

The funeral prayers, led by current JI chief Sirajul Haq, were attended in vast numbers by political and religious leaders, senior government officials, social activists and friends and family of the deceased.

In his address, Haq said that Khan was a kind and generous man who loved humanity without any discrimination, adding that the presence of multiple political leaders and government officials proved that the people of Karachi valued sincerity and service.

He stated that Khan was one of the best examples of a leader and a worker, pointing out that he had served in Azad Kashmir, Balakot, Gilgit, Chiltral, Sindh and Balochistan even in his old age. "Not only Karachi but the whole of Pakistan is grieving his demise," he claimed.
