Sindh closes educational institutions on Thursday, Friday amid fear of coronavirus
Balochistan govt also announces to keep schools shut till March 15
Hours after Pakistan confirmed first two cases of novel coronavirus, the Sindh government has announced that all private and public educational institutions will remain closed on Thursday and Friday (February 27 and 28) across the province.
"All Govt and private educational institutions will remain closed on Thursday & Friday (27th & 28th Feb)," Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani announced on his official Twitter handle late Wednesday neight.
In a statement, the minister said the decision was taken amid the concerns of parents about the possible outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
He also expressed hope that the situation will become normal soon.
In a similar decision, the Balochistan government has also announced that all educational institutions across the province will remain closed till March 15 "as a precaution to protect children from coronavirus".
State Minister for Health Dr Zafar Mirza confirmed in a late Wednesday night press conference that first two cases of coronavirus have been reported from Sindh and a ‘federal area’.
