QUETTA:
The security forces on Tuesday gunned down three suspected militants and confiscated two SMGs, four firearms and one hand grenade.

The security personnel carried out Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) in two districts of the province, including Harnai and Naseerabad and killed two suspected militants - who were affiliated with a proscribed outfit – after an exchange of fire in Tor Ghar area of Harnai.

According to sources, the deceased were identified as key commander Chakar Chalgari and his accomplice Qadir Chalgari, who were involved in target killing of a local coalmine contractor named Sarwar, attacks on security forces and extortion.

The third accomplice of the terrorists managed to escape while efforts to chase him were underway. Arms and ammunitions were also recovered from the possession of the militants.

In a separate action, Counter Terrorism Department and Frontier Crops, while launching a joint operation, killed a suspected militant in Naseerabad. The security officials claimed that the militant was planting an explosive device on a gas pipeline in Tehsil-Chatar area when he was shot dead by the forces.

The officials further revealed that the killed terrorist was a local commander of a banned outfit and was involved in attacks on innocent citizens and security forces and was wanted in various cases pertaining to collection of extortions from locals.

During the search, forces impounded weapon and explosive device from his possession.

Shortly after the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
