Suicide attack on checkpost kills one security personnel

Sources say bomber was in his late teens.

One security personnel was killed and seven others were injured when a militant blew himself up at a security checkpost in Chak Malai area of South Waziristan on Sunday, Express 24/7 reported.

Sources said that the bomber was in his late teens and blew up himself when he reached close to the checkpoint. "One security person was killed and seven others were injured" confirmed a source from the area.

The attack would be a second suicide attack this week, with the previous one in Kotki just three days back.

Militancy is mostly concentrated in Mehsud tribe territory, where an operation had been launched previously. While the Wazir tribe area remains peaceful under a peace agreement since 2007 with the Ahmad Zai Wazir tribe.

Earlier, the security forces also recovered arms and ammunition in a huge amount while carrying out an operation against the militants in the same area.

Security forces had launched an operation in the Orakzai tribal region in March last year after reports that militants were fleeing Operation Rah-e-Nijat (path of deliverance) in South Waziristan and the tribal regions were shifting to Orakzai.

The operation has so far killed 117 security personnel and 650 militants, while 300 security personnel and more than 800 militants have been injured.
