Anyone with a smartphone can use TikTok to tell their own story in under 60 seconds.

Since launching in 2017, the app has been downloaded more than 1.5 billion times, according to US-based research agency Sensor Tower.

However, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has told its employees to stop posting to TikTok, reports CNBC.

The ban comes after Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wrote a letter to its administrator, David Pekoske, requesting that the agency stop the use of the app.

According to The Hill, TSA employees have been using  TikTok to create and post videos explaining the agency’s boarding processes and rules.

“TSA has never published any content to Tik Tok nor has it ever directed viewers to Tik Tok,” a TSA spokesperson told The Verge.

“A small number of TSA employees have previously used Tik Tok on their personal devices to create videos for use in TSA’s social media outreach, but that practice has since been discontinued.”

Previously, the US Army also placed a ban on its soldiers from using the app and the main reason behind the decision is security concerns.
