The end of the affair: Man strangled ‘for refusing to marry’

SHO says woman drugged and killed lover because he was about to leave.

LAHORE:

Two women have been arrested for the murder of a man in their home in Nishtar Colony.

Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Muhammad Akmal said that Kashif Imran, 30, had been having an affair with Abida Sarwar and she had strangled him with her teenaged niece’s help because he was refusing to marry her.

He said that Abida had called Rescue 15 in the early hours of Saturday and reported that there was a body in her house. The police found bruises on the dead man’s neck and concluded that he had been asphyxiated with a rope. He said that Abida and her niece Ayesha, 16, were taken into custody for questioning.

Under interrogation, Abida told the police she had met Imran when she moved to Usama Colony three years ago after she got married. They had started an affair, while her husband lived and worked in Dubai. She had later moved to Asim Block, where Kashif used to visit her.

Kashif had told Abida he would marry her, the SHO said, but a few days ago he had changed his tune and warned her that he was not ready for marriage and he was looking for work abroad. On Friday night, Abida had invited him to her home and drugged his tea. While he was unconscious, she strangled him with her niece’s help, the SHO said.

He said that a first information report case had been registered against Abida and Ayesha under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
