"We will use all democratic means to remove this incompetent government. We are open to both an in-house change and a new election,” Bilawal – head of the second biggest opposition party – said on Thursday after a meeting with the PPP’s women workers in Punjab’s provincial capital.
“The PPP has brought about a [political] change without the help of the establishment in the past and it will bring about change without its help now,” the PPP chief added.
Bilawal said the opposition and people are united against the PTI government, which, according to him, has unleashed a “tsunami of inflation”. Tsunami was one of the words used by the ruling PTI to refer to the positive change in wanted to bring about in the country.
Bilawal lambasts govt over economic policies
“Due to this unprecedented inflation, it has become difficult for the common man to pay the bills and educate their children. We [PPP] had made Pakistan a wheat exporting country within a year, but the PTI has made Pakistan a wheat importer,” he said in a reference to the recent wheat flour crisis.
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said Imran used to say that inflation increases when those at the helm are corrupt. “Now I ask him why inflation is rising during his rule,” he said.
Bilawal said the government has put the entire burden on the common people. “If he [PM] is sincere than he should put burden on his rich friends rather than people,” he said.
He said his party wants to spread prosperity among workers, labourers, farmers and ordinary people. “However, only a peoples’ government can protect rights of people,” he added.
