He maintained that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led provincial government had decided to establish the Mulla Katiar Industrial Estate once before, however, on the directives of the then chief minister, Aftab Shaban Mirani, the project went into "cold storage." Mirani had earmarked 1,000 acres of land, on a 99 year-long lease, for the purpose but the matter still hangs in the balance, he added.
"Hyderabad possesses great potential for industrial growth therefore, the government should consider setting up another industrial zone," said Chourdry.
He demanded of Sindh chief minister and other relevant authorities to initiate work on creating the new industrial zone.
