Balochistan govt keen to develop dairy farming

Balochistan government is keen to develop large dairy farms in Quetta and Lasbela and is in talks with a private sector food company which is interested to invest in the dairy sector.

“A dairy farm is being established in Lasbela District on 3,000 acres. A similar dairy farm is to be established in Quetta on 1,000 acres.

“In this regard, talks with the private company are under way, as the company is interested in investing in Lasbela,” said Balochistan Livestock Secretary Dostain Jamaludini during his visit to Uthal.

He said a slaughter house will be built in Hub and a cattle market will be set up on borders with Punjab.


“Hub Chowk cattle market will be legalised. 45,000 Animals have been vaccinated only in veterinary camps, while vaccination is being provided in OPDs on a daily basis.”

He said Lasbela University and the Livestock Department will work together to solve the problems of dairy farmers by completing the incomplete work of dairy farms.

Jamaldini was given a detailed briefing by Lasbela Livestock Deputy Director Dr Munawar Ahmed Rind. Secretary livestock later called upon Lasbela Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema.

Talking to the DC, he requested him to requisition land for the slaughterhouse in Hub.
