TDCP tasked to discover more spots

Construction of resorts is underway at many locations

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser on Tourism Asif Mehmood has said the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has drafted a comprehensive strategy to identify and establish new tourist sites in Punjab to reduce the burden on existing spots.

He expressed these views while briefing a meeting on Tuesday on tourism promotion. The meeting was presided over by Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Human Resource Development and Chairman of National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB) Zulfi Bukhari.

Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari said Pakistan has been declared among the top 10 tourist destinations this year.

“Now it is our responsibility to provide a well-managed, more hospitable and friendly environment to the people who are visiting us from around the globe,” he said.

Addressing the meeting participants, Bukhari said the tourism sector would play a huge part in boosting Pakistan's economy. All institutions and authorities responsible for tourism should team up for the promotion of a positive image of Pakistan through tourism.

He lauded the TDCP and provincial government for taking measures to promote tourism in Punjab and promised his support and cooperation at all levels for the national cause.

Chief Minister’s Adviser Asif Mehmood highlighted the potential of the tourism sector and initiatives taken by the provincial government for promotion of tourism in Punjab. He said on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the TDCP has drafted a comprehensive strategy to identify and establish new tourist sites in Punjab to reduce the burden on existing tourism spots.

He said Punjab has beautiful landscapes, like Chakwal, Kotli Satian, Kohe Suleman and Soan Valley where construction of resorts and other facilities have been started and will be open soon for the general public.
