A number of doctors serving in Multan Nishtar Hospital have staged a protest demonstration against shortage of medicines in southern Punjab’s biggest health facility.
The protesters assembled in front of the medical superintendent’s office and protested against the non-availability of medicines.
One of the protesters, Dr Alamgir said most wards lacked basic medicines, including antibiotics, injections, anti-seizure medicines, medications for nebulisation and masks for surgeries. “Patients and their families have to purchase the medicines and surgical goods from pharmacies.” Patients in the wards are facing severe problems due to shortage of beds as well as medicines, he added. “Most patients in Nishtar Hospital are suffering from cough, infection and other diseases.”
