Govt shifts shelter home to park near Dar’s home

It has made arrangements for the stay of 16 people in the public park

LAHORE: The district administration has set up a temporary shelter home by placing containers in a park in front of former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s house after court orders against opening the facility on the premises in Gulberg.

However, residents of the area are reported to have expressed concern over the construction of the shelter in the park and demanded the removal of the containers.

Complying with the high court’s order, the Lahore district administration has closed he shelter home set up at Dar’s house and made arrangements for the stay of 16 people in the public park.

It has opened the temporary shelter by placing two containers in a corner of the big park. Temporary toilets have also been placed along with separate arrangements for women and men.

While those availing the shelter facility appear to be happy over the administration’s move.
